Domaine & Co. began with an observation: the household objects worth keeping for decades — a sauna, a plunge, an heirloom range, a well-made bed — are increasingly hard to buy from anyone who has actually seen them.
The retail experience for a $10,000 piece often looks and reads identically to the retail experience for a $30 one. That is a failure of trade, not of the object.
The Rule
Between one and five pieces on the list at any given moment. When a new piece is added, an old one comes off. The ledger is a public promise that this list is not going to become a catalog.
The Category
Home recovery opened the house. Kitchen, bath, and study will follow, one considered category at a time.
The Model
Domaine is a merchant of record with authorized-dealer accounts. We are the party you buy from; the manufacturer is the party who builds, ships, and warranties.
The Person
